Far Far West starting region

Desert Guide

Desert is available from the start. Reunite 6 cactus families for the Cactus Day Joker, find 3 Train Rush fragments, or begin the questline that unlocks Area 41. The 10-grave map and checklist have their own route.

Desert Cactus Children and Parent Locations

Each of the 6 families has one child to carry back to its matching parent. Use the named pairs and their dialogue clues together: the map's white cactus marks a child, while its matching colored X marks the parent.

White cactus icons mark children; the matching colored X marks their parents. Open Original size to read the paired endpoint pictures and dialogue. This older reference has no readable build label; mission icons belong to the pictured runs.
Bucket Western camp to the northwestern rock arch

Find the child beneath the wooden awning in the far western camp, below the stacked crates. Travel north and use the rope up the ledge, then continue to the large rock arch. The bucket-headed parent waits beneath the arch. Its clue points back to a Marauder camp.

Flower Northern shipwreck to the eastern pyramid

Search the far northern shore beside the broken wooden boat for the flowered child. Carry it southeast toward the eastern rock pyramid with two fire braziers. Match it with the parent wearing a large pink flower; the parent's clue describes the wrecked ship by the sea.

Bones Central river bones to the western cave

Find the child by the enormous rib bones beside the water in the north-central river area. Head west and slightly south toward the cave in the western rock wall. The parent stands outside the cave, so check the entrance rather than searching deep inside. Its clue mentions the big bones.

Rocky Northeastern rock ledge to the southern tower

In the northeast, climb onto the narrow ledge of the rock-pyramid formation to reach the child. Its parent is much farther south, beside the rocky tower with wooden scaffolding and stacked crates. The parent's clue points to the rock pyramid; use the yellow pair to avoid confusing it with Flower's nearby parent.

Fishing Southwestern pond to the central riverbank

Check the edge of the round pond in the southwest for the child. Head north across the river toward the central water area. Find the fishing-rod parent against the rocks between the nearby pond and lake. Its dialogue about a child becoming a fisherman confirms the pair.

Valve Southern hanging pipe to the southwestern silo

Follow the elevated pipes in the southern part of the map. The child is on a pipe beside the pump machinery and rock wall; move close and look up for its pickup prompt. Carry it southwest along the shore to the silo and pipes. The valve-headed parent says its child is on a hanging pipe.

How to Complete the Cactus Family Secret

Finish the 6 reunions in one mission for the Cactus Day Joker. Clear dangerous stretches before carrying a child, because you cannot ride while transporting it.

Step 1

Find a purple-glowing cactus child or speak to a parent for a landmark hint. There is no separate quest to accept before starting the reunions.

Step 2

Use the child's hint, the family label and the paired endpoint pictures to find its matching parent. Pick up the child and carry it back.

Step 3

While carrying a child, you cannot ride your mount or carry another item. If enemies catch up, put the child down, fight, then pick it up again.

Step 4

Reunite all six families during the same mission to earn the Cactus Day Joker. You can complete the pairs in any order; the labels do not prescribe a route.

Desert Music Disc Locations: Train Rush

Collect the 3 fragments to unlock Train Rush in the Saloon. You can collect disc fragments across multiple runs. Match the original 1–3 labels with the interior, lower riverbank and upper tower routes below.

Use the original blue numbers: 1 is inside the northeastern pyramid, 2 is down by the central waterfall and 3 is on the eastern tower. The numbers identify the location notes below. No build label is readable, and other mission icons belong to this reference run.
1 Inside the northeastern rock pyramid

Go to the rock-pyramid formation in the northeast. Approach from its north side and enter the opening. Follow the wooden floor inside and check the crates for the fragment; searching only the outside rock face misses the interior.

2 Central waterfall and wooden outlet

Find the small ravine beside the river near the map center. Use the falling water to locate the lower water area, then check the wooden outlet or trough against the rock wall. The fragment is beside the water, below the upper rock surface.

3 Barrel on the eastern wooden tower

Find the wooden tower near the eastern shore. Climb to its top platform and look on the barrel for the golden disc fragment. The pickup is above ground level, not around the tower's base.

Dr. Spark-Twist: Start the Area 41 Unlock

Finish The Great Marauder Secret questline. It begins with Dr. Spark-Twist in Desert. The Area 41 Guide below covers the complete questline and its separate symbol puzzle.

Step 1

Speak to Dr. Spark-Twist in Desert to begin The Great Marauder Secret questline. Follow your quest log for the current stage.

Step 2

Open the Area 41 Guide under Continue Your Route for the full intel and antenna objectives, including extraction requirements. The doctor's supplied antenna code is separate from the purple-rock symbol puzzle.

Continue Your Route

Open the dedicated 10-grave map and checklist, continue the Area 41 questline, or browse other maps and collectibles.

Desert FAQ

Do I need to unlock Desert?
No. Desert is a starting mission region. Dr. Spark-Twist's local questline unlocks Area 41; it is not an entry requirement for Desert.
Do the cactus families need a particular order or one mission?
Complete all 6 reunions in the same mission to earn the Cactus Day Joker. You can complete the pairs in any order. Bucket, Flower, Bones, Rocky, Fishing and Valve are labels matching the reference picture, not a required sequence.
Can I ride or fight while carrying a cactus child?
You cannot ride your mount or carry another item while transporting a child. If the route becomes dangerous, put the child down, deal with the enemies, then pick it up again and continue toward its parent.
How do I tell which parent matches a cactus child?
Speak to the child or parent and use the landmark clue. The paired pictures connect the western camp to Bucket, northern shipwreck to Flower, giant ribs to Bones, northeastern rock ledge to Rocky, southwestern pond to Fishing and southern hanging pipe to Valve.
How do I play Train Rush after finding the fragments?
After collecting all 3 Desert fragments, return to the Saloon. The Saloon's jukebox lets you select unlocked tracks without carrying a separate disc. Choose Train Rush from the unlocked tracks.
Where is the Desert grave map and saved checklist?
Use the 10 graves link at the top of this page or Desert Grave Locations under Continue Your Route. That dedicated route contains the numbered grave stops and browser-saved checklist.
Is the southern purple rock Dr. Spark-Twist's antenna code?
No. It is a clue for the separate Area 41 symbol puzzle. The existing clue route is: Go to the small peninsula at the southern tip of Desert and find the purple glowing stacked rock. Watch for the nearby Marauder camp. Record its symbol and dots for that puzzle; use the doctor's supplied code for his antenna quest.
Do these maps show the latest Desert client?
The cactus collage and numbered disc map have no readable build labels. They are older landmark references with endpoint pictures, rather than a guarantee of your current mission's spawns or icons. Compare the terrain and dialogue in your run; arrival, boss and extraction icons can differ from the reference pictures.
